COMMUNITY
The Oneida Tribe of Indians of Wisconsin is a Federally
recognized Indian Tribe consisting of approximately 14,000 members. The Oneida Reservation
is a rural community located within both Brown and Outagamie County boundaries. The
original boundaries of the reservation encompass approximately 64,5000 acres of land. The
Oneida Reservation has an overall total population of approximately 19,000, including
Indians and non-Indians.
As a community, the Oneida Nation places a high priority on
providing quality educational opportunities to all members, from infants to elders.
Educational programming includes early childhood development, Head Start, Oneida Tribal
School K-12, Job Training Partnership Act, a Career Center and higher education. Other
educational resources include the Oneida Nation Museum and Oneida Library, as well as
recreation programs, and culture, language, and repatriation programs.
The Oneida Nation School System (ONSS) currently has
407 enrolled
students, K-12. The Elementary School (ONES), K-8, facility has 294 students while the
High School (ONHS) has 113 students. The ONSS is a Bureau of Indian Affairs School within
the Oneida Nation Reservation.
